2011 HEALTHY LIFESTYLE CHALLENGE
THE CHALLENGE BEGINS Monday, October 3rd, 2011!
Welcome to the Healthy Lifestyle Challenge 2011. We hope that during the next ten weeks you will develop at least one new healthy habit. Even beyond that, our hope is that everyone will have fun and positively improve the culture of wellness in the home, in the workplace and in our community.
For some, this challenge will be about losing weight;for others it will be about maintaining a healthy weight. The Healthy Lifestyle Challenge is about finding your balance. The challenge officially starts on Monday, October 3rd.
If you haven't already registered, email brian@wepromotehealth.org and let us know that you are up for the challenge!
All participants are responsible for tracking their own points and reporting their total by email at the end of each week.
Why should I play?
Every week is an opportunity to win a prize just for playing! We will draw one person each week for a prize. Prizes will range in value from $5 to $50. To be eligible, a participant must be registered and turn in their weekly tracking sheet. We will provide you with a link to the tracking sheet. It only takes a minute or two each day to check a few boxes. The most important reason to play is because it's good for your health!
What is the cost to participate? THERE IS NO COST!
How does this work? You earn points every day by living a healthy lifestyle!
A PERFECT DAY IS WORTH 100 POINTS
40 Healthy Eating Points: You receive 40 points for each day that you meet your healthy eating goals. 10 points for a healthy breakfast; 10 points for a healthy lunch; 10 points for a healthy dinner and 5 points for each of 2 two healthy snacks daily. You are on your honor to award your own points. If you eat an unhealthy snack during the day, simply do not award yourself 5 points. We are utilizing the USDA food pyramid as a benchmark to define healthy eating. However, any other reasonable program such as Weight Watchers is acceptable. If you are not following any specific nutritional program, you will have satisfied the requirements if you follow the generally accepted guidelines for proper nutrition. MyPyramid.gov
25 Exercise Points: You earn exercise points by doing some form of exercise for 30 minutes per day.
10 Tracking Points: You earn 10 points for each day that you track your minutes of physical activity. Just stay up to date in completing the tracking sheet.
15 Water Points: 64 ounces of water daily. (8 glasses of water). If you drink less than 64 ounces but at least 32 ounces, give yourself partial credit of 10 points.
10 Sleep Points: You earn your sleep points by sleeping a minimum of seven hours a night.
