Promoting Healthy Lifestyles at Home, School, and in the Workplace.

Millions of Americans have sleep problems.  Stress, caffeine or distractions in the bedroom could all be factors leading to trouble falling asleep.  Once way to discover what is keeping you awake at night is keeping a sleep diary.

We have provided you with a sleep diary to help you identify what habits you might be able to change to improve your sleep.   To encourage you to complete the sleep diary, all participants will be entered in a special drawing offered by Haven on the Lake. The prize will be awarded on the main stage at Howard County Family Wellness Day on Sunday June 7.  You do not have to be present to win.    To qualify, participants need to complete the sleep diary for a 2 week period, ideally Week one would be Sunday April 26 - Saturday May 2, and week 2 would be Sunday May 31 - Saturday June 6.  But any 2 weeks is fine.

In addition to serving as a great tool for you to begin to understand your sleep patterns, we will use the collective information as part of a greater survey for overall health in Howard County.

Scoring your sleep

Healthy Sleep is defined as 7 to 9 hours of sleep most nights.

Week 1

A score of 1 means that you feel you were in the normal range for sleep for that week

A score of 2 means that you were not in a good range, and need some improvement

A score of 3 means that your sleep was difficult and interrupted.

Week 2

A score of 1 means that you feel you were in the normal range for sleep for that week

A score of 2 means that you are still not what you consider a good range, but saw some improvement.

A score of 3 means that you are still not in the good range and showed little no improvement.
