Join a group of individuals of all ages and fitness levels committed to making wellness a priority.
On Tuesday nights we walk, jog or run.  No timing, no competition and no other expectations.
For those that want a little more challenge; we offer encouragement and support to help you crank it up a notch.


Always wanted to run a 5K, but never thought you could?   Now you can! 
 We Promote Health is offering a 5K training opportunity
This weekly program is designed for beginners who want to train for their 1st race and intermediate-level runners who want more running time with a great group!
It's also perfectly ok to show up and walk at a pace that you are comfortable with.  For many, it's not about running, winning or competing against anybody else; it's just about adding a little more jogging to your walking routine.

Meet once a week and we can help you be ready to walk, jog, woggle or run.  

This group targets the Heart Run 5K on Sunday, September 29th for those committed to participating in their first 5K. 



  THURSDAY NIGHTS:  6PM - 7PM  Join us at the Centennial see meeting place below.   Starting April 19th. All adults and children 7+ are welcome!   For those who are not able to arrive by 6pm, please see the note at the bottom of this communication.*

TUESDAY NIGHTS:  6PM – 7PM    Join us at 5052 Dorsey Hall Dr  Ellicott City, MD 21042 (Dorsey Hall Professional Park) for another opportunity to get in more walking or jogging. 


Where do we meet?  Thursday Nights: 
Enter Centennial Park from Centennial Lane.  Proceed to the back of the lot past the tennis and basketball courts on the right.  We will be meeting at the front of the pavilion in the far right corner in the back of the lot.  Please try to arrive before 6pm for brief instructions and warm-up. What is the cost to participate?   This no-cost program is supported by We Promote Health, Inc., a local Howard County non-profit organization, dedicated to promoting wellness for individuals, families, business organizations and schools.  Participants training for their first 5K are encouraged to register for the Matzohball 5K which will take place at Centennial Park on Sunday, June 3rd, 2018.    

How do I register for this program?  Please make every effort to register on-line.  Individuals can register on-site if they arrive before 6pm.  Although there is no cost to participate, you are required to sign a waiver form.   Those that are registered will receive weekly updates and instructions.  There is a separate link on our portal which will direct you to the registration page for the Matzohball 5K.

Is there a minimum expectation for beginners?   All levels are encouraged to participate.  Each individual will determine his/her own training goals.  If you are a walker who just wants to build in more intermittent jogging, this program is for you.  If you have already begun to move from walker to jogger, this program can help you increase your distance.  If you are already a runner and just want more opportunities to run, we look forward to your participation.  For many, this opportunity may simply be about enjoying the more social aspects of the training with a group.  All are welcome and encouraged to participate!

Are there any other opportunities to get in more sessions?   Participants are always welcome to join us on Saturday mornings from 8-9am at Centennial Park (East entrance, Corporate Pavilion H)   For details:  CLICK HERE   The FREE "Boot Camp in the Park" is designed for all ages and fitness levels.  While this program focuses on a total body workout, we do include 20 minutes of walking, jogging or running at each session.   

* On Thursday night at Centennial Park (West Gate):  If you are not able to arrive by 6pm and still would like to participate, we do have a strategy that will allow you to do so.  We realize that some of you have work obligations that will make it difficult to arrive by 6pm.   If this is an issue for you, CLICK HERE and let us know.  We will respond back with instructions so that you might be able to participate and find value.  On Tuesday nights, if you arrive late: Park in the lot. Warm up with one lap around the circle. Exit the professional park; take a left turn onto Dorsey Hall Drive.  Follow the roadway/sidewalk to the end.  Dorsey Hall Drive ends at the Morningside Assistant Living.  Turn around at the circle before entering Morningside and return to the start.  This is approximately one mile.   We will be adding additional routes over time and include them on this web portal.
