What’s the Session All About?
Session Overview: This session is about energy balance. Energy balance is the basis for all of the following sessions in this four-session program for parents, caregivers and children.
Session Objectives: By the end of this session, the participants will be able to:
♦ Define energy balance.
♦ List three examples of how they can balance the energy equation.
♦ Describe how portion size and serving size can affect energy intake and thus weight control.
♦ Identify the amount of time that adults and children should be physically active every day.
♦ List three ways to add physical activity to daily life.
Special Guest: Kim Metz - Family Yoga Instructor - Awaken Wellness, Columbia, Maryland
Kim received her Yoga Teacher Training at the Yoga Center of Columbia, and is a certified teacher, registered with the Yoga Alliance at the 200-hour level. She loves sharing her passion for Yoga with students, and exploring the mind-body-spirit connection together. Her background in education enhances her ability to weave the art of teaching and the science of Yoga into each class. Creating a warm and welcoming class atmosphere allows space to balance active poses with inner awareness. She believes that the essence of yoga is to align with our true nature, and bring a deeper connection to ourselves and others.
Awaken Wellness is a wellness clinic located in Columbia. It’s goal is to help you awaken to the fullest possibilities of life. Awaken Wellness helps people to heal through the use of acupuncture, Chinese herbal medicine, therapeutic bodywork, holistic health coaching, and yoga.
All sessions start promptly at 6:45 pm. Please arrive on time.
